The Mississippi River will be closed from Lock and Dam 11 to the Iowa/Wisconsin Bridge during the Air Show.
Once completed, the Coast Guard will direct boaters to return to the area to enjoy the Fireworks from the river and there will be a No Wake Zone from the Lock and Dam to the Julien Dubuque Bridge. After the fireworks, the southbound on-ramp to US Highways 61/151 will be OPEN temporarily to ease traffic congestion. However, vehicular traffic will not be released until 30-45 minutes after the fireworks conclude to allow pedestrians to clear the area.
Additional road closures around the event site to be aware of:
– Volunteer Dr. closes between Hawthorne St. and Lincoln Ave. at 8:00 a.m. on July 2
– A.Y. McDonald Park, including the Hawthorne St. Boat Ramp, closes to the public at 10 p.m. on July 2
– Harbor Dr. closes between Shiras Ext. and Volunteer Dr. at 8:00 a.m. on July 3
– Hawthorne St. is closed between Kerper Blvd. and Volunteer Dr. at 8:00 a.m. on July 3
– Kerper Blvd. will close at the Roosevelt Ext. when nearby parking lots are full (no later than 8:00 p.m.
