Last night at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines the curtain came down on a tremendous girls basketball season for Wahlert High School.
The 2nd ranked Golden Eagles lost to top ranked Mount Vernon 47-36 in the Class 3A State Championship game. Playing in the first state championship in school history, Wahlert struggled scoring the entire game against a stingy Mount Vernon defense only shooting 23 percent from the field and were just 6 of 28 from 3 point range.
Wahlert senior Claire Lueken was named as a member of the 3A All Tournament team.
Wahlert finished their season with a record of 21-and-5.
