A task force is once again meeting to discuss the future of Dubuque Community School District facilities.

Dubuque School Superintendent Amy Hawkins briefed the Dubuque School Board during a meeting this week. Hawkins said the community task force recently had its first meeting with staff members of Invision Architecture who worked with the district previously on the planning process for a proposed up-to-$150 million bond, which voters narrowly rejected in November 2023 which would have allowed for construction of a new middle school which would have combined students of Washington and Jefferson.

Hawkins says a survey about the future of the Dubuque Schools will be sent out next month to sample community members, and community engagement sessions are also being planned for later in the spring.

Hawkins said the task force aims to bring recommendations to the board by the end of the school year.
