A consultant for the University of Dubuque says the economic impact of the proposed John and Alice Butler College of Osteopathic Medicine could eventually exceed $60 million annually once the school reaches projected peak enrollment in the next decade.

Our coverage partner KCRG spoke with University President Travis Frampton yesterday following a meeting with community leaders to discuss the plans.

Medical Impact Company CEO David Mohr told KCRG the economic impact would come in a number of ways.

Frampton says the college is on track to welcome its first 90 students in August 2028 and will need 250 faculty and staff, including a dean. Frampton says a downtown location for the school has been secured and will be announced soon.

The John and Alice Butler College of Osteopathic Medicine is named in recognition of a $60 million donation from the Butlers.
