Our coverage partner KCRG reports chronic absenteeism rates are dropping in the Dubuque Community School District as staff implement new attendance policies in accordance with state law.
Defined as a student missing 10 percent or more of the school year, the district reports 20% of students were chronically absent in the first half of this school year. In fall 2023, 26% of students were chronically absent.
