Longtime Retired Grant County Law Enforcement Officer Dies

Grant Co Sheriff

The Grant County Sheriff’s Department is mourning the passing of a retired longtime captain who died over the weekend.

Sheriff Craig Reukauf says 71-year old Robert (Bob) Bloyer died on Sunday following a courageous battle with lung cancer.  Bloyer had 46 years of service to the Sheriff’s Office, 30 years full-time and an additional 16 years working part-time in the Communications Center.

Captain Bloyer also taught boating safety classes through the Wisconsin DNR for over 20 years, and he spent 15 years as an instructor at Southwest Wisconsin Technical College, where he taught the Emergency Vehicle Operations Class to new police recruits and to area agencies for their in-service trainings.

A Celebration of Life service for Bloyer will be held at a later date.
