Dubuque Police are crediting the new Flock automated license plate reading technology for helping them nab a man wanted out of state on a Conspiracy to Commit Murder charges.

Police say on Thursday they were notified a wanted man in North Dakota might be in the Dubuque area. Authorities checked the Flock system and found the vehicle associated with the wanted man, 30-year-old Steven Burrell, had been picked up by several cameras.

Dubuque Police worked with the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office and ultimately located and arrested Burrell at the Casey’s on Rockdale Road in Key West.

The Flock cameras went live in Dubuque in October .
