Football
For the first time in school history, a Wahlert High School Football team will play for a state championship. Last night at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls Wahlert nipped Sergeant Bluff-Luton 17-16 in the Class 3A semi-finals. The difference ended up being a blocked extra point by Wahlert with 5:39 to play. The Golden Eagles now 12-and-0 on the season will meet (11-1) Humboldt for the championship on Friday afternoon at 1 o’clock.
In Illinois Class 1A quarterfinal action, Galena had their season end with a loss to LeRoy 37-21.
