Investigators have just identified three people killed in a fiery crash on Highway 20 in Delaware County back on October 13 and say the driver of the car had been shot.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office says a preliminary investigation by the Iowa State Patrol shows a car driven by 50-year-old Tijuan White of Robbinsdale, Minnesota was going eastbound on Highway 20 near the Earlville Interchange when the vehicle cross the median and continued eastbound in the westbound lanes. The car crashed head on with a semi-truck and both vehicles burst into flames.

All three people inside the car died at the scene, including White and passengers 21-year-old Tryese Johnson and 38-year-old Augustine Monboe both from Minnesota. The driver of the semi suffered minor injuries.

Investigators say White had been shot prior to the crash. No evidence indicates the gunshot came from outside of White’s vehicle. Because of fire damage to the vehicle, the manner of death remains undetermined.

The investigation remains ongoing by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Iowa State Patrol, the Delaware
