The Northeast Iowa Council, Scouting America says for the first time in their history a girl will be awarded the highest honor in scouting.

Erin Mensen from Troop 137 in Manchester is part of the groundbreaking first class of female Eagle Scouts for the Northeast Iowa Council.

Mensen’s Eagle Scout project involved improving the landscaping around the Masonville Fire Department to lay landscaping blocks, spread river rock, and plant hostas.

Erin’s brother Nicholas Mensen has also earned the rank of Eagle Scout, and the two will be honored with the other 2024 class members at a ceremony in February.
