Council Hears Potential Options For Central Ave.-White Street Corridor

Last night during a work session, the Dubuque City Council heard recommendations for potential traffic flow improvements in the Central Avenue and White Street corridor.

Civil engineering firm Bolton and Menk presented the council with four preliminary options based on a collection of public input earlier this year.

The different plans include things such as converting the streets from one-way to two-way, removing parking from one side of the street for wider lanes and sidewalks, adding bike lanes, and more.

Urban Planner Andrew Dresdner said the community is divided on whether the corridor should remain one-way, but finding the best solution often means striking a balance.

The city is holding an open house later this month before the city council decides on one of the plans in November.
