Closing arguments are expected this morning after testimony finished yesterday afternoon in the trial of the Dubuque man charged with the first-degree murder of his mother.
Our coverage partner KCRG was in the court room and says Tyler Dazey did not testify in the trial and that the prosecution continued to focus testimony around connecting evidence to Tyler Dazey.
Criminalists and forensic scientists taking the stand testified about a tactical hatchet found at the scene. It was covered in Jennifer Dazey’s blood and had Tyler Dazey’s palm print on its handle.
The defense argued the hatchet was in the Dazey home for a long time, asserting it wouldn’t be surprising if he had touched it in the past.
Dubuque Police Investigator Kurt Rosenthal questioned Dazey after his mother’s death in January. He detailed for the jury what Dazey told him about his mother.
