Mississippi River UPDATE

The wait goes on for the rising Mississippi to crest.

Forecasters now say the river which is at 20.5 this morning is predicted to crest in the major flood stage category on Thursday afternoon at 21.6 feet. At 21.5 feet, water affects several homes on the Illinois side of the river in the Frentress Lake area.

The long range forecast shows the river hovering around 21.5 mark thorough at least early next week.

More heavy rainfall in the forecast for tomorrow could impact crest timing and height along the Mississippi.

Due to rising Mississippi River levels ,the Grant County Highway Department reports a portion of County Highway X in the Wyalusing area is closed and not passable.
