Cathedral Of St. Raphael Reopens After Renovation

NEWS SM

The Cathedral of St. Raphael is reopened yesterday after six months of interior renovations, finishing the last major phase of a $10 million improvement project at the Dubuque church.

More than 200 workers lent their expertise to the cathedral’s nearly four-year-long restoration, consisting of campus and exterior improvements, including landscaping and fixing leaky roofs. A state grant covered approximately $1.8 million of the $10 million total and parishioners from across the archdiocese covered the rest.

Priests from across Northeast Iowa renewed their vows yesterday during a Chrism Mass at the cathedral.
