Jo Daviess County Emergency Management has released the names of the three Elizabeth Firemen injured while fighting a grass fire earlier this week and say each man is improving, still in stable condition, but facing long and difficult roads to recovery.
1st Assistant Chief Rob Pearce, firefighter Trent Breed, and Probationary Firefighter Troy Vail all suffered severe burns in the fire Tuesday afternoon.
The Elizabeth Fire Protection District has set up donation accounts at Apple River State Bank, Citizens State Bank, and Illinois Bank and Trust. A Go Fund Me Page also has been set up and so far has raise over $11-thousand dollars in donations. Emergency Management says several other fund raising events are being planned to aid the men and their families.
