Three firefighters suffered serious injuries while battling a grass fire in Jo Daviess County.
County Emergency Management reports around 3 yesterday afternoon, members of the Elizabeth, Hanover, and Savannah Fire Departments were called to the blaze on South Rush Road. Authorities say all three firefighters injured were taken to the hospital by air ambulance. The names of the victims were not released.
The fire was brought under control and extinguished. An official with the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office says the fire began as a controlled burn, but became an uncontrolled burn.
