Our coverage partner KCRG reports the Dubuque Parks & Recreation Commission is recommending the City Council maintain its pet ban in some city parks including Eagle Point and Murphy Parks.
Yesterday the commission voted in favor of keeping the list of parks allowing leashed dogs and cats in place and not adding others. Some commission members noted concerns of pet owners not following the leash law and not picking up waste.
Dogs and cats are currently permitted in most Dubuque parks, parkways, and trails. The city council asked the commission to look into allowing pets in more of them.
The Parks and Recreation Commission’s recommendation goes to the City Council in May.
