It was Election Day yesterday in Wisconsin and Illinois. In some notable area results
- The third time was a charm for an operating referendum vote in the Cuba City School district. Voters approved the measure on a vote of 52 percent to 48 percent. The five-year, non-recurring measure will increase operating revenue each school year through 2029 and also provide a 2.5 percent pay increase for district teachers.
- Voters in the city of Platteville overwhelmingly approved a referendum vote on a new city municipal aquatic center with 76 percent casting a yes vote to allow the city to raise its property tax levy to fund up to $6.9 million for the construction.
- Galena Mayor Terry Renner defeated challenger LG Koen to earn reelection, with 776 votes to Koen’s 190. In the Ward 2 race, Roger Gates was the winner, In Ward 3, incumbent Council Member Jerry Kieffer retained his seat for a fourth term, For the at-large seat, incumbent Council Member Katie Wienen retained her seat .
- In a contested race for three seats on the Galena School Board, the three winners were incumbents Mike Hyland and Arlee Stodden with the other seat going to Michael Einsweiler.
