One person was shot following an attempted break-in at a rural Maquoketa home.
The Jackson County Sheriff says around 12:15 yesterday afternoon, deputies were responding to the incident and it was reported a person had been shot.
When they arrived deputies discovered a man had been shot several times during the altercation. The wounded man was flown to a University of Iowa hospital for his injuries. No other information is known at this time.
