A groundbreaking ceremony for the new Galena & U.S. Grant Museum is scheduled to place next week.
The groundbreaking for the $5 million dollar project will take place Thursday afternoon at 3 at the new location next to the Nelson Stillman House on Bouthiller Street.
The project hit a bit of a delay recently when the White House froze spending on federal loans and grants, however a $ 1-point-8 million dollar federal grant was released earlier this month and construction contract signed with Dubuque based Gronen Restoration.
Officials say the 8,500-square-foot facility is on track to open in the summer of 2026.
