Your travels on Highway 20 on the Illinois side of the river may face some delays starting next week and continuing through the fall.
The Illinois Department of Transportation says beginning on Monday construction is scheduled to begin on the intersection of U.S. 20 and Barge Terminal Road in East Dubuque. The work zone will cover around one and a half miles from Frentress Lake Road to just east of Barge Terminal Road.
The project estimated to cost around 13 million dollars will be designed to improve safety at the intersection. The D.O.T. says one lane of traffic will be open in each direction during the project, which is expected to be completed in November.
