A Maquoketa teenager has been sentenced for his role in the death of a Cedar Rapids teenager.
Earlier this week, 19-year old Devin Gardner was ordered to serve 32 years in prison. Gardner is one of four teens who were convicted in the death of 16-year old Michael McCune who was shot to death at an apartment complex in Cedar Rapids in 2023.
Gardner avoided a murder charge by cooperating with law enforcement. He pled guilty in January to first-degree theft and conspiracy to commit a forcible felony, both felonies, and accessory after the fact, an aggravated misdemeanor.
Gardner’s is also facing charges for other crimes he committed during his pre-trial release.
