DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) – Our coverage partner KCRG reports rural Dubuque County residents could see their property taxes increase in Fiscal Year 2026.
The Dubuque County Board of Supervisors is moving forward with a plan to keep countywide property taxes the same, but those living in unincorporated parts of Dubuque County would see their rural levy go up by 10 cents per $100,000 of taxable property value. Supervisor Harley Pothoff says the increase would cost a person with a $500,000 property an additional $22.
Pothoff notes the increase would help maintain rural Dubuque County roads. He says the secondary roads budget would face around a $200,000 shortfall without the proposal.
