Men’s Basketball

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Jaden Akins scored 19 points and Jaxon Kohler had 10 pounds and a career-high 16 rebounds to lead No. 8 Michigan State to a 71-62 win over No. 11 Wisconsin. The Spartans have won five straight, putting them in position to contend for the Big Ten regular-season championship with a week left. The Badgers had won six of seven.

  • Illinois 93, #15 Michigan 73

DETROIT (AP) — Tre White had 19 points and 11 rebounds to lead Illinois to a 93-73 rout of No. 15 Michigan 93-73. The Illini have beaten Michigan nine straight times.

  • Bradley 73, Northern Iowa 56

The UNI men’s basketball team gave the Bradley Braves an early test but could not stop its opponent’s three-point shooting and bench scoring on Sunday as the Panthers dropped their regular season finale on the road by a score of 73-56.

The Panthers will head to St. Louis for the MVC Tournament as the three-seed and play on Friday night at 8:30 against the winner of a first-round game that is to be determined.

 

Women’s Basketball

  • Iowa 81, Wisconsin 66 (Hawkeyes pick up 20th win of the season)

The two teams will meet again in the opening round of the Big Ten Tournament on Wednesday evening in Indianapolis.

(Illinois is the number 7 seed for the Big 10 Tournament and will play Thursday against the winner of the Nebraska-Rutgers first round game)

  • Dubuque defeated Benedictine 6-5 and Aurora 4-1
  • Clarke lost twice at Doane 7-5 and 3-1
  • Wabash 7, UW Platteville 2

Softball

  • Dubuque beat Chatham 13-8 and Johnson and Wales 6-4
  • UW Platteville beat Bethel 6-3 and lost to Luther 3-2
