A Dubuque man accused of child sex abuse in Cerro Gordo County has pleaded guilty.
34-year old Bennett Gonyier was charged in July 2024 with second-degree sex abuse.
This week, Gonyier pled guilty to a reduced charge of lascivious acts with a child and will be sentenced April 14th.
Law enforcement said Gonyier committed a sex act with a child under five years old in the City of Mason City.
The prosecution of Gonyier had been delayed after a judge ordered he undergo a psychiatric evaluation. Gonyier was found fit to stand trial.
