Winter Storm Leaves Snow Blanket 4 to 8 Inches, More On The Way This Weekend

Our first winter storm of the season left behind a varying amount of snowfall totals ranging between 4 and 8 inches with some isolated higher amounts.

The National Weather Service official snowfall total for Dubuque at the Dubuque Regional Airport was 6.8 inches.  Asbury measured 4.5 inches, Maquoketa had 8 inches. To the north, Guttenberg only recorded one-tenth of an inch.

In northwest Illinois, Galena had 6 inches while Elizabeth came in with 9 inches.

In southwest Wisconsin, Platteville has checked in 4.9 inches, 4.5 inches in Hazel Green, and just one-half inch at Tenneyson.

The Weather Service says another storm system is forecast to impact the area Friday afternoon into Saturday with more measurable snowfall predicted and then artic cold air behind that system with a low of 13 below zero by Sunday night.
