Fire Departments from Sherill, Holy Cross, and Centralia/Peosta were called to a house fire this morning. Around 8:30, fire crews were called to the Michael and Kerry Reuter home at 21-702 Ridge Road, just west of Balltown.
The fire started in the chimney and spread into nearby walls by the time crews arrived. Firefighter were able to put out the flames and damage was estimated at 50-thousand dollars. The Reuter’s told authorities they had just put wood in the fire place earlier in the morning and the house started to fill with smoke. There were no injuries.
