STORM UPDATE: Tri-States Dealing With Seasons First Major Winter Storm

Snow Scene 3

The first major winter storm of the season continues to impact the Tri-State area today and tonight with heavy snow at times in the forecast with a total of 4 to 6 inches and some locally higher amounts possible by the time the storm pulls out of the region.  A Winter Storm Warning continues to be in effect until early Thursday morning for the entire area.

Forecasters say expect snow-covered roads and low visibilities with hazardous travel conditions throughout the evening.

Jackson and Jones County says towing of vehicles is not recommended.

The National Weather Service says another storm system is predicted to hit the area Friday night into Saturday, bringing more wintry precipitation and potentially more accumulating snowfall and that the active weather pattern is expected to continue into the next week.
