A Dubuque woman has received a federal prison sentence for hiding a gun her brother used during a local shots fired incident.
36-year old Delicia Lee was order to serve 16-months behind bars after pleading guilty to one count of tampering with evidence.
Lee admitted in March of 2023, she bought a gun for her brother, Marvin Brantley, who was a convicted felon and unable to legally purchase a firearm. In April 2023 Brantley was involved in a fight and fired the gun at a group of people outside a bar in Dubuque, there were no injuries. After the incident, Brantley hid the gun in the ceiling of his basement before being arrested on state charges related to the shooting.
Authorities determined in jail phone calls between Brantley and Lee, Brantley told his sister how to locate the gun and asked her to dispose of it. Lee drove to the residence, took the gun and drove it to a residence in Chicago. She later admitted to investigators that the weapon was in Chicago and turned it in to police.
