A man who worked for the City of Dubuque for more four decades died suddenly last weekend while vacationing in Florida.
74-year old Don Vogt first started in 1975 as the City’s Assistant Street Superintendent, was promoted to Operations and Maintenance Division Manager in 1990 and then he was promoted Public Works Director in 2006. Vogt retired in April 2016.
During his tenure, Vogt was instrumental in the many policy and management changes to the City’s curbside collection program, including the design and start-up of the recycling, large item, yard debris, and food residual collection services. He also established the City’s asphalt overlay program.
Visitation will be Monday from 3 to 7 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 at Church of the Resurrection.
