Our coverage partner KCRG reports a new report shows the Grand River Center generated just over $5 million dollars for the local economy in Fiscal Year 2024, but the city-owned venue operated at a deficit of around $726-thousand dollars.

Dubuque Leisure Services Director Marie Ware notes the city budgeted $691-thousand to cover the venue’s losses in FY 2024, but due to management changes, the deficit grew past expectations. Dubuque used savings from other parts of the Leisure Services Department to cover the difference.

The report shows just over 50-thousand people visited the Grand River Center across 176 events in fiscal year 2024.
