Dubuque Man Sentenced To Federal Prison On Drug and Weapons Charges

A Dubuque man has been sentenced to nearly two decades of federal prison time.

On Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids, 29-year old Dylan VanScoyoc received 19 years without the chance for parole on illegal possession of a weapon and drugs.

VanScoyoc was arrested in September 2023 following a traffic stop. In the vehicle, officers found a designer purse containing a loaded firearm, a digital scale, and multiple baggies with more than140 grams of cocaine.

VanScoyoc must also serve a six-year term of supervised release after the prison term.
