East Dubuque Fire Fighters quickly extinguished a brush fire yesterday morning before it could get out of hand. Around 11 o’clock, firefighters were called to the area near the East Dubuque Elementary on the report of fire in the ditch along Highway 35. Most of the fire was knocked down in about a half hour with some damage to a utility pole in the ditch. Fire officials say the fire was started by sparking electrical wires underneath a transformer. There were no injuries.
