Dubuque School Board Meets Tonight

The Dubuque Community School Board will meet this evening at 5:30 for their regularly scheduled board meeting.

One of the topics for discussion will be to discuss the recent proposal to potentially close Hoover Elementary School at the end of the school year.

Superintendent Amy Hawkins told the board at a special meeting last week, the move would help the district operate more efficiently and offset anticipated budget shortfalls, saving about one-million dollars per year.

The District has scheduled a meeting for families of Hoover students to talk about the potential closure of the school, and ask district staff questions. The meeting will be on Tuesday, January 21st at 6:00pm  at Hoover. Officials say dinner and child care will be provided during the meeting.
