Dubuque’s River Museum to hold 21st annual Ice Fest January 18 and 19

National Mississippi River Museum

The National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium has announced their agenda for their annual Ice Fest. The 21st annual Ice Fest will be happening on January 18th and 19th with this year’s theme being “Winter Carnival”. Both days will feature indoor and outdoor activities such as snow carving, watching ice harvesters, blacksmith demonstrations, and you can observe open water rescues conducted by the Dubuque Fire Department.

On top of all that, something new this year will be snow excavating, where people can harness their paleontology skills to uncover what lies beneath. The activity is a teaser for the museums upcoming summer exhibit, Ice Dinosaurs: The Lost World of the Alaskan Artic, which is set to arrive Memorial Day weekend.
