Dubuque Hires Firm To Help Evaluate Park System

CITY OF DUBUQUE

Our coverage partner KCRG reports the City of Dubuque is hiring consultant firm Kimley-Horn to develop a comprehensive master plan to shape the future of the city’s park system.

Dubuque Leisure Services Director Marie Ware says the master plan will examine the quality of Dubuque’s parks, how to protect its natural resources and get feedback from the community on potential gaps in service.

The plan will be Dubuque’s first city-wide analysis of its park system since 1982.

Ware notes the city will start gathering public feedback in the spring with hopes to adopt a master plan next January.

Kimley-Horn is getting up to $396,000 from Dubuque to develop the plan and is being funded by money from the American Rescue Plan Act, the Dubuque Racing Association and Dubuque sales tax revenue.
