Slippery roads helped caused an accident in Grant County as a garbage truck ran into the back of a school bus which sent a student to the hospital. The accident happened shortly after 7 yesterday morning on Highway 61 near the intersection of Hy-Point Road in Lancaster.
The Grant County Sheriff says the garbage truck driven by 37 year old Andrew McQuirk of Boscobel was traveling south and slid out of control and struck the bus. There were four students on the bus at the time of the accident. The student injured, whose name was not released, was taken to Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster for treatment of minor injuries.
McQuirk was cited for failure to keep his vehicle under control.
