A southwest Wisconsin man charged with first degree murder intentional homicide has pled not guilty to the charges. Yesterday in the Crawford County Circuit Court, 39-year old Jessie Slaughter of Lancaster entered the plea during his arraignment hearing. The next court date, a jury status hearing was scheduled for March 10th.
Slaughter is accused in the October 25th death of 65-year old Daniel Welsch of Prairie du Chien who was found strangled and stabbed inside his apartment. Slaughter was arrested the next day at a residence in Platteville where he was staying at least part-time.
