A long serving member of the Galena City Council died over the weekend. The Telegraph Herald reports 80-year old Pam Bernstein died on Saturday.
Bernstein had served on the Galena City Council for the past 12 years, representing the second ward.
Bernstein’s term was set to expire in May and city officials already say she had announced her intention not to seek reelection in April.
A resident of the second ward will be appointed to fill the remainder of the term by the Mayor with city council’s approval.
Bernstein moved to Galena in the 1990s with her late husbandafter growing up in New York.
