Right-handed pitcher Luis Severino has agreed to a three-year, $67 million contract with the Oakland A’s.  ESPN reported that Severino’s guaranteed money is the largest in the history of the franchise; and that he can opt out of the contract after the second year. Severino, 30, rejected a one-year, $21.05 million qualifying offer.

A two-time All-Star with the New York Yankees (2017/2018), Severino posted an 11-7 record with a 3.91 ERA in 31 starts last season with the New York Mets, striking out 161 batters across 182 innings.

Severino has dealt with numerous injuries, undergoing Tommy John surgery in February 2020. In 172 games (156 starts), Severino is 65-44 with a 3.81 ERA with the Yankees (2015-19, 2021-23) and Mets.
