Yesterday, parents in Dyersville helped celebrate the opening of a new child care center that will go a long way toward meeting parent’s needs in the area. Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds joined community leaders in dedicating the new Michael and Jean Knepper Child Care Center.
The project became possible thanks to millions of dollars of grant money and massive donations from the community.
During the center’s dedication, Governor Reynolds had another surprise in store, a state investment of 675-thousand dollars. That extra money helped surpass the six million dollar goal set by supporters.
The new space more than doubles the Kid Project’s 30-year old facility, an upgrade community members say the city needed for a long time. The center’s board expects the building to be open by the end of the month.
