Led by Tytan Anderson and RJ Taylor with 13 points apiece, the Northern Iowa Panthers defeated the Dubuque Spartans 96-54. Jaylin McCants finished with 22 points for the Spartans.

— Payton Sandfort scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to go with seven assists to help Iowa beat Texas A&M-Commerce 89-67 in a season opener. Owen Freeman added 15 points and nine rebounds for Iowa.

— Keshon Gilbert scored 17 points and Tamin Lipsey added 16 as No. 5 Iowa State routed Mississippi Valley State 83-44 for its 28th straight home win. Saint Mary’s transfer Joshua Jefferson added 10 points, six rebounds and four steals in his first game with the Cyclones.

— John Tonje scored 23 points, John Blackwell added 16 and Wisconsin took control in the second half and subdued Holy Cross for an 85-61 season-opening win on Monday night. Nolan Winter added 15 points making all six of his shot attempts, two of which came from beyond 3-point range.

— Will Riley scored 26 of his 31 points in the second half to set an Illinois scoring record in a freshman debut and the Illini eased by Eastern Illinois 112-67.
