Fall Back

fall back

Sunday (11/3), Daylight Saving Ends. Turn your clocks back 1 hour Sat night

It’s daylight saving time, not daylight savings time.

When did daylight saving time start?

Benjamin Franklin did not invent daylight saving time. Although Franklin opined on the concept of daylight saving time, it was first instituted by Germany on May 1, 1916 in an effort to conserve fuel during World War I.

A 2016 Congressional Research Service report says the time change wasn’t adopted in the U.S. until 1918 with the bill “An Act to preserve daylight and provide standard time for the United States.”

Which states stay standard time?

Arizona, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands stay on standard time year round.

How long does daylight saving time last?

The Energy Policy Act of 2005 changed the beginning of daylight saving time to the second Sunday in March with the ending date being the first Sunday in November. The extension means daylight saving time exists for eight months, while standard time is 4-months long.

While a 2022 measure was passed to finally end Daylight Saving once and for all…the current Congress failed to move it ahead, and it’s now expired.  What are your thoughts?  Vote in our poll below
