Tri-State Residents Encouraged to Dispose of Old Medications on National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Public safety officials are encouraging you to participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day this Saturday. The biannual event is an opportunity s to dispose of unused or expired prescription medications safely and anonymously.

Local law enforcement agencies and pharmacies are teaming up to collect leftover prescription and over-the-counter medication during this one-day event held each spring and fall.

One of the sites locally will be at the Dubuque Fire Training Facility on Public Safety Way in Dubuque from 10 until 2 on Saturday.  To see a listing of all the participating sites around the tri-state area and more information  

During the spring collection in April, Iowans turned in over 5,077 pounds of unneeded medicine. To date, Iowans have safely disposed of over 103 tons of unused medications at these events.
