School officials at Dubuque Senior High School reported an air soft pistol was confiscated from a student’s backpack yesterday.
According to a message sent by to parents, the airsoft pistol was reported by another student and Dubuque Police and school officials found it inside the backpack. School officials say the airsoft pistol was never taken out of the backpack and never displayed in a threatening manor.
The incident happened at the same time as a scheduled, random walkthrough of school parking lots by the Dubuque Police Department K-9 unit. However, officials say the two instances were not related.
