Trial Set For Chicago Man Charged With 2 Counts Attempted Murder

A Chicago man has pled not guilty to two counts of attempted murder for a shooting incident in Dubuque in 2022 and will go on trial early next year.

A trial date for 25-year old Tavon Baylock is set for January 21st in Dubuque County District Court.

Baylock is charged in an alleged drive by shooting incident which occurred on the evening of June 23rd, 2022 in the area of West 23rd Street and Central Avenue. Police say Baylock was in one vehicle and fired several shots from a handgun at two men in another vehicle. Neither of the men was injured. Bullet holes were found throughout the vehicle and also in some neighborhood buildings. Traffic camera footage helped authorities identify Baylock as the shooter.

A trial date is set for January 21st in Dubuque County District Court.

35-year old Michael Rogers of Dubuque who was allegedly in the vehicle with Baylock is also charged with two counts of attempted murder for the incident. Rogers will be arraigned on the charges on Monday.
