Dubuque’s parking garages and on-street meters are getting a technology overhaul, marking the first update to the city’s parking infrastructure in about a decade.
By the end of 2025, the city is expected to replace its more than 2,000 on-street meters with kiosks, where people enter their license plate number and can pay by app, credit card, cash, or coins.
Dubuque’s parking garages will also be fitted with license plate readers to make sure people have paid. The readers and the on-street kiosks will collect information on when the spots are used.
