A new District Attorney in Grant County has been appointed. According to Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers office, local lawyer Ryan Kieler of Platteville has been named to fill the roll left by the resignation of former Grant County D.A. Ian Mickelson.
Kieler will serve for the remainder of the unexpired term that ends this January, although he also is running for the next term and will appear as the Republican candidate on the Nov. 5 ballot. No Democrats have filed.
Kieler has been in private law practice in Platteville since 2016.
