An area of downtown Dubuque was closed off for a few hours yesterday due to a gas leak.
Around 11:30 emergency workers were call to the area of Eighth and Bluff streets which were then closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic in a one-block radius around the former KDTH building. Crews with Black Hills Energy were called in and repaired the problem and the area was reopened to traffic around 2:30.
Officials say a gas line was struck on the southern side of the building, where crews were working to install a new power pole.
