Dubuque Police say the crash that blocked the U.S. 61 Wisconsin bridge for about three hours on Tuesday evening happened when the driver of an RV failed to yield when entering the highway and hit a semi-truck.
Authorities say the driver of the RV entered the highway from the 16th Street ramp, but collided with a semi-tractor trailer when merging, causing the semi to crash into a guard rail.
When the semi hit the guard rail, a side fuel tank split open, causing 135 gallons of diesel fuel to spill out onto the roadway. There were no injuries in the accident.
